Description
Photographic artwork of Cuba by Dawn Currie. The town of El Cobre, home of the Basilica de Nuestra Senora del Cobre, grew around copper mining dating back to the 1500s. The pace is unhurried, with basic horse carts and an old Studebaker for transportation. The mine is virtually closed now, and the locals depend on income from tourists and Cubans on pilgrimage to see the patron saint of Cuba.

Great street/journalist photography that captures a slice of life of what it is like to live in the town of El Cobre and offer a window into what life was like in the not so distant past. A single mule cart waits for either a customer or the person they gave a ride into town to return. The streets are largely empty of any traffic. To the left side three men sit and just wait. One I figure must be the flower vendor selling those sunflowers on the stand. Town life unhurried and unrushed.
