Description
Photographic art by Dawn Currie. Beautiful display of this male Anhinga during mating season. The feather detail is brought out by the black and white rendition.
Anhingas (scientific name Anhinga anhinga) swim with their bodies partly or mostly submerged and their long, snakelike neck held partially out of the water. After a swim they perch on branches or logs to dry out, holding their wings out and spreading their tails.

This is nice in b&w! They like to dry their wings like this, it's a cormorant and anhinga thing as they lack important oil glands to waterproof their feathers. We birders call it "cormoranting" for fun :o)
