Description
Photographic digital art by Dawn Currie. Created from one of my original photograph, the detail in this Adult Brown Pelican is enhanced through digital processing and drawing techniques.
Brown Pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis) is a comically elegant bird with an oversized bill, sinuous neck, and big, dark body. They feed by plunge-diving from high up, using the force of impact to stun small fish before scooping them up. When not foraging, pelicans stand around fishing docks, jetties, and beaches or cruise the shoreline. Photographed near Sebastian Inlet State Park, Florida, a great place to watch and photograph these birds.
Special Edition Art Collection inspired by John James Audubon and others that have depicted the beauty of birds through drawings and illustrations, I have been working on a process to transform my photographs into drawings for over a decade. The result is reminiscent of pen and ink drawings and stippling techniques. These detailed images highlight the timeless beauty of these birds.
