The Anhinga (Anhinga anhinga) swim underwater and stab fish with its daggerlike bill. After every dip, it strikes a regal pose on the edges of shallow lakes and ponds, with its silvery wings outstretched and head held high to dry its waterlogged feathers. Once dry, it takes to the sky, soaring high on thermals stretched out like a cross.

I am as impressed with the word, "Verdant," as I am with the image! :) Your beautiful and identified bird image has been featured by Wild Birds Of The World, a nature photography group. L/F

Thank you for the feature! Sometimes I'm feeling creative about both my image and it's title. :)
