The Wood Stork (Mycteria americana) is the only stork breeding in the United States. Its late winter breeding season is timed to the Florida dry season when its fish prey become concentrated n shrinking pools.

Many come to the breeding marsh at Gatorland in Orlando Florida to build their nests high in the treetops. The presence of the alligators helps keep preditors (snakes, lizards, etc) from the nests.
