Description
A Scarlet Ibis trying to take a morning nap. He's not sure he trusts the photographer taking his picture.
Scarlet Ibis (Eudocimus ruber): Look like anyone you know? These crimson beauties are closely related to the white and glossy ibises found right here in our backyard! They originate from northern South Africa. They prefer mud flats, swamps and mangroves. Their diet consists of crabs, crayfish, frogs, and insects. The primary threats to this species are collection for the pet trade, habitat loss, and pollution.
